In August 1965, the Electronics Computer Programming Institute of Columbus was opened by Mr. Leonard Mermelin, who recognized the rapid growth in the computer programming field. Mr. Mermelin operated the College until 1972.
During a sixteen-year transition period the College was sold several times and broadened its course offerings to accommodate students in the changing job climate. To better reflect these new programs, the college name was then changed to Technology Education College (TEC).
In January 2002, Technology Education College was purchased by Quest Education Corporation. Quest was purchased in July 2000 by Kaplan, Inc. and by December 2002, Quest changed its name to Kaplan Higher Education Corporation. In September 2003, Technology Education College moved to a new facility at 2745 Winchester Pike. As a part of Kaplan, Technology Education College continues to offer the same excellent education for which it is known, and upon which it was founded.
